Last days
Last days
Dina drinking soup as she needed more fluid.
The vet gave us the above for us to administer Subcutaneous Fluids (SQ) to her as she needed it but as the days went by, she became weaker and weaker. We were told that her kidneys were failing. The only humane course of action is to say goodbye and put her to sleep to end her sufferings and it was done at the vet this afternoon. She outlived her twin brother by 2+ years.
Final resting place in our front garden with these beautiful flowers.
Stones to mark her grave
My deepest condolences to you on the loss of Dina.
ReplyDeleteThank you Merryn.
DeleteSooty to hear this, my deepest condolences to Dina.
ReplyDeleteThank you Xiao Ying.
DeleteOh dear.. sorry to see this.. but I guess it is for the best... Pets is like family members already.. I think I will miss my Labbie when she goes one day...
ReplyDeleteVery true. May your Labbie have many more years to be by your side.
DeleteSo sorry to hear that! This reminds me of my own beloved Michi's passing some years ago. Seeing our dogs dying from old age is not easy but at least we know we enjoyed their presences in our lives and they are always remembered forever.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yes they gave us so much joy.
DeleteSad to hear it... :(
ReplyDeleteSad yes but no more suffering is good.
DeleteRemind me of mine long ago. So sad but its for the best.
ReplyDeleteI agree. We will always remember them.
DeleteReminds me of my two dogs too. So sad that they left us. I cried and cried when they died.
ReplyDeleteRIP Dina..
DeleteWhen I wrote this post I was close to tears too. Thank you Wenn.
DeleteSorry to hear this, Dina is in a better place now, no suffering.. My parents has a poodle too, been with us for the past 10 years liao.. I know I will cry too when his time comes..
ReplyDeleteThank you Princess Ribbon. May your parents' poodle live a long life.
DeleteOh my. So sorry to read this.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI'm so sorry... The pic of the final resting place was especially moving... My mother told me my childhood companion vicki died by sending me a card with a red flower on it. I opened it in the course of going through all my mail on the late train ride back after another long day in the office back then, and the simple words informing me were very unexpected. I got off the train at the next stop, and went to sit quietly somewhere to grieve for her in peace.
ReplyDeleteHope you and yours are coping alright with your loss. Take care...
Dear Aileen,
DeleteThank you for your kind words. As Vicki will always be in your thoughts, so will Dina. They really did bring such joys to their human pets.
I'm so sorry, mun. It's always so hard to lose a loving friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes it is.
Delete16years+ is considered a ripe old age for a dog. She has lived a good and long life. My friend's precious dog died around the same time as Dina too and she was 14years+. They must be having a good time in doggie heaven now :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. Yes hope that they are happier where they are now.
DeleteI know I am late but today is 1 month's anniversary. I am sorry for your loss and I know it's beyond words.
ReplyDeleteI never dare to keep pets again as I cried buckets for days and that was some 15 years ago! LOL
Thank you for your condolences. Better late than never and you are right on time for the 1 month's anniversary.
DeleteHope we be strong and dare to give another unwanted dog a loving home.
so sad to hear that...my condolence to u and family.
ReplyDeleteit's hard to let go a good companion after 16 years! I tink I will mourn for months over the loss. Anyhow, 16 years for a dog life is an 'achievement'...RIP, Dina!
Thank you Nux V. Yes, 16 years for Dina is an achievement indeed.
