Happy Winter Solstice Festival! To Chinese people all over the world celebrating this festival, here's wishing all of you a happy time getting together with your families and eating Tang Yuan (glutinous rice balls).
Glutinous rice balls made by my sister: Small ones without fillings. Big ones with black sesame fillings.
We eat the glutinous rice balls with red bean broth (sweet).

ReplyDeleteGood morning Jennifer, thanks! Yes, I remember reading that your mother made Tang Yuan just for you when you were back in Ipoh recently - what a sweet mother that you have :) Today are you celebrating this festival with your in-laws?
ReplyDeleteHappy Dong Zi to you and family too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Redbabe!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. We can't celebrate this year since the grandma passed away in Aug...but anyway, as long as I still got to eat, I'm happy...hehe
ReplyDeleteSorry Jennifer, I didn't know your in-laws are still in mourning and can't celebrate any festivals.
ReplyDeleteI like the pink color ones just because they are in pink. hehehe... but overall, my favorite is the black sesame;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't eat any tong yuen for the last dongzhi... totally forgot about it:( There's no "movement" here in this part of the world.
Hi Elizebeth, next year I'll leave a comment on your blog one week before dongzhi to remind you, ok? :) Should be able to get frozen ones from Chinese supermarket, right?
ReplyDeleteya, lots of frozen ones... but the best i had eaten so far was the Ding Tai Feng in shanghai, they have the best tong yuen on earth. Yum Yum..
