Back then...

When I was young, I used to buy bread and snacks from vendors selling them on motorcycles but now I don't do this anymore as I buy all my food from grocery stores at the local mall. So seeing the motorcyclist below with his bread and snacks hanging all over his motorcycle recently makes me think of my younger days.

Do you still buy bread and snacks from the roti-man on his motorcycle? Roti means bread in the Malay Language.

How does he balance his motorcycle with so many packs of bread and snacks hanging on it, I wonder.

  4. Wow brings back memories... I'm a chickadee fan too, but I wonder if Roti Man's wife makes the bread? Or they just repackage...

    1. I don't think they make the bread themselves. You are a chickadee fan too! Yay! Those were the days.

  6. The taman that I am staying in right now (in Penang) still has. In fact there's 2 of them, one comes in the morning and one in the evening. Sometimes the kids will chase after the vendor with their bicycles =)

    1. Oh is it? I lived in Penang for 4 years while studying. Which taman are you referring to?

    2. Crap, now that you asked, I actually don't know the name of the taman. It's those 40 years old single storey terraces near Sunshine Square, facing the road towards the airport.

    3. at Bayan Baru? You don't need to write your Penang address often?

    4. Yup Bayan Baru. I don't actually, I don't have letters coming in except for the utility bills (never paid attention on the address LOL). All my letters are addressed to my hometown.
