Ten hours

It has been more than a year since I last been to Penang so it is about time to go and visit my brother there and we did just that recently. The three of us - my mother, sister and I decided to do it during weekdays so that my brother and my sister-in-law can still have their rest days on weekends instead of needing to show us around.

All three of us can't remember when the last time was that we took a 5-hour bus trip to anywhere and since we can't remember, we took the bus this time - 5 hours from KL to Penang on day 1 and another 5 hours back on day 3. And we concluded that this is our last long distance bus journey.

Even though the double-decker bus was clean and comfortable but we are too old to withstand the swaying of the bus. This post is to remind us to never take the bus again. Previously we either take a flight or self-drive.

For the 42 hours that we were in Penang, we spent 12 hours sleeping and only 30 hours sightseeing and eating but we are satisfied because our purpose is to visit my brother and sister-in-law.

A big thank you to them for putting us up at their lovely place and buying us dinner. Will it be another 1 year before we visit you two again? Perhaps.

Early morning sun

Took bus 102 here on Day 2

    2. Penang is a lovely place to visit..everything is nearby and wonderful food. Only one down side is that the traffic is as bad as kl.

    3. Ya, now bones old already, not like younger days. Last time, all of you really slept in the bus for all 2 nights? Really save money on place to stay if do like that. Ya, we don't dare to drive in Penang town centre. Not only jam but difficult to find place to park. Even when we take bus to town, it took 1 hour due to traffic jam.

    1. True, no need to drive, can rest but not so flexible, cannot just stop at any rest area if we want to stretch our legs.

    1. 102 is the only bus that stops directly in front of Straits Quay. Since you drive in Penang, there's no need to take bus. :)

  5. That was one long bus trip, but at least you didn't have to drive it.

  6. Such a nice trip. Most importantly it's spent with the family. I'm sure you have a memorable holiday together regardless the long journey. Hehe!

    1. Yes, it was memorable as we have not taken a long bus trip for such a long time.

  7. Wow, that's quite a long bus ride for a short trip. But as you said, I'm glad you had a wonderful re-union with your brother and sister-in-law. :)

    1. Ya, I guess so. I don't think I can sit in a bus for 10 hours straight. Have you done that before?

    1. Hello,

You are welcome! :) Yes, now that you mentioned it, I remember seeing electrical sockets but I did not know it is available before I board the bus so did not bring my laptop with me.
