PIP Joint

Two days ago, while I was sleeping, I could feel a throbbing pain in my index finger joint on my right hand and the pain woke me up. To be exact - it is the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint. Then the pain was gone but reappeared randomly on and off. Just that one joint and there is no swelling, no redness, no numbness and no stiffness.

Just forty and experiencing the onset of arthritis so soon?

  1. Is it something you ate that cause the pain? If you have joint pain, you should avoid food like mushroom and peanuts. There are some others too but I can't remember now.

  3. Whatever it was, I hope it goes away and you don't experience it again.

  8. Well.. I'm 35 but I've had mild-ish arthritis for 5, 10 maybe more years. I was always lazy to do much in the way of prevention after heavy sports training :P

I don't know the right foods but agree with Jennifer the right diet offsets many ills, I went to see a dietician almost 10 years ago because of a metabolism problem (have to keep eating or get gastric etc as tho I skip meals)

  10. Hi Mun. I know this post is a few years back, but I just want to ask what happened to your finger since? Did it heal or did it get worse? I have recently experienced this on my left finger, and now it is on my right... :(

    1. I rest my fingers and do not overuse them. It did not get worse. Only once in a while, I will feel the throbbing pain in that finger joint.
